Here’s what I’ve been exploring
Hey all, I just wanted to share some things I’ve been reading and exploring over the last couple of weeks.
Blog posts & news
Patagonia’s founder Yvon Chouinard (whom I love and has a great book titled “Let My People Go Surfing: The Education of a Reluctant Businessman”) is instead of going public is “going purpose” — here’s how it works:
100% of the company’s voting stock transfers to the Patagonia Purpose Trust, created to protect the company’s values; and 100% of the nonvoting stock had been given to the Holdfast Collective, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting the environmental crisis and defending nature. The funding will come from Patagonia: Each year, the money we make after reinvesting in the business will be distributed as a dividend to help fight the crisis (climate change).
Love it or hate what he’s doing, this takes guts and is compelling af. Literally putting his money where his mouth is.
Life After Lifestyle — a blog post by Toby Shorin… and this one is messing me up. He talks about how cultural belief systems are now the products themselves. This one gets deep and it worth the 30 minutes to read.
Perseverance rover finds organic matter in rock samples on Mars… (BIG IF TRUE)
Cool products
Felt is a gorgeous product. They want to make it as easy to create a map as it is to start a google doc.
I used it for m brother’s recent trip to map out his Thailand trip which you can find here. Been using it more and more over the last few weeks. Check it out!
